Toyota will launch the GR Supra next year as a GT4 racing version for customer racing. In the spring, the company unveiled a concept variant of the race car at the Geneva Motor Show, now the series production is confirmed. The vehicle is developed and produced by Toyota Motorsport GmbH in Cologne.
With affordable costs and easy access, the GT4 racing category is popular with private customer teams around the world. For example, GT4 cars can compete in the European GT4 Series, the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring, the Super Taikyu Series in Japan and the Michelin Pilot Challenge Series in the USA. The GR Supra currently drives in the NASCAR Xfinity series in North America and will compete in the Super GT GT500 in Japan from 2020 onwards.
Toyota Gazoo Racing has teamed up with three technical partners to work on the GR Supra GT4: the exhaust system will be developed jointly with Akrapovič, the tires will be developed by Pirelli and the lubricants will be supplied by Ravenol. Details on the specifications of the GR Supra GT4 as well as pricing, sales regions and market launch will be announced later this year.
